Characteristics of Different Flowers
There are so many different types of flowers present that it would
take days to keep on recounting just their names, leave alone their
different characteristics. However, due to flowers being a general
category, there are certain characteristics which are same for almost
all flowers and maybe applied as a general property of all flowers.
However, each flower is different from the other and as such each enjoys
certain specific characters also. Here we will first discuss about the
general characters before moving on to the characters of various flowers
(number of flowers being innumerable, only a handful few).
 Colour
Flowers are the most colourful off all things that nature has provided
us with. There are so many different colours and each colour is so
strikingly different from another that it is striking. Almost all
flowers are coloured though there are plenty of whites and blacks all
around. You can get almost any colour flower you want. This colour
basically comes from a certain kind of pigment present in the sap of the
flower cells. Fragrance Most people love flowers for their
fragrance after the initial appeal of colour. This fragrance is
basically designed for insects who visit flowers and hence make
pollination possible. For humans, this fragrance is just an aesthetic
endowment of nature. The scent which we get from flowers is usually
located in smell glands or sacs present in the petals of the flowers.
Petals are the places for holding the colour pigments as well as the
scent sacs of a flower.
Petals This is the most important part of a flower because
it is the seat of the aesthetics of a flower. Without petals, a flower
is nothing. However, there are many flowers whose petals are actually
inconspicuous and the other corollary parts are brightly coloured. In
these flowers, it is the not the petals that play the most important
role of a flower. Moving on then to the specific characters of the
flowers we will deal with four flower types, the lily, the rose, the
orchid and the tulip.
The lily Lilies are flowers which have unique petals and are
highly fragrant when in full bloom. Any healthy lily plant can
immediately transform the ambience of a room. Coming in a wide variety
of colours but mostly known for the white variety. In fact, the lily is
one flower which is actually in high demand due to the cultural as well
as religious importance attached to it. Not only is it the ideal flower
for a wedding, symbolizing the chastity of the to-be bride but they also
are signifiers of innocence and eternal peace in life after death.
However, the most majestic of lilies are the pink tiger lilies which can
fit any occasion you carry them to. This particular type of flower is
the most appropriate fi you are looking for flowers for a formal or
elegant occasion. The rose Roses are every ones all time
favorites. From being the first choice of any person who loves, the
various colours of the flower has come to be associated with various
meanings e.g. a yellow rose signifies friendship while a red rose love
and a black one, enmity. It is perhaps the most common of all flowers
that we know of today. It is the best flower if you want to gift it to
someone to show your love or appreciation. However, rose can be used to
portray all sorts of love and not merely romantic ones.
The orchid
Orchids are flowers which are striking from the
word go. Starti9ng from their structure to the colours of their petals,
not to mention the infusion of colours that one finds in many orchids is
just amazing. You have the regular whites and pinks and blues but you
also have the yellow with pink as well as the purple with white and
slight yellowish streak. Coming in stalks of five to six buds, they are
an exquisite variety of flowers that can attribute delicacy and an
exotic look to any event, whether private or public. The tulip
This is an amazing flower and almost one which is very very common.
Coming in a wide variety of colours and being not so extraordinary or
harsh, they serve the purpose in almost all occasions. The flower is
shaped like a tumbler and is very easy to spot and recognize. If you are
ever undecided about which flower you should carry to a certain
occasion, you can always decide on a bunch of tulips.
